This post is in honour of Sheikh Baqir al-Nimr (may Allah shower him with Mercy), who was executed on the 2nd of January 2016 (22nd, Rabi Al-Awaal, 1437).

Abu Abdullah al-Sadiq, Ja’far bin Mohammad (as) said: On the day of Judgement, when Allah (azwj) gathers all the people in one place, the scales are brought forth and the blood of the Martyrs along with the ink of Scholars are weighed together – the ink of the Scholars will weigh heavier than the blood of Martyrs.

Note: The hadith implies that the ink of a Scholar is more worthy, or more valuable, in the eyes of Allah than the blood of a Martyr.

Sanad: al-Saduq, from his father, from Ja’far bin Mohammad bin Masroor, frm al-Hussain bin Muhammad bin `Amaar, from al-Ma’aly bin al-Baseer, from Ahmed bin Muhammad bin `Abdullah, from `Amro bin Ziyaad, from Muddarak bin `Abd al-Rahmaan who said the above hadith

If the ink of a Scholar is “holier” than the blood of a Martyr – imagine the Blood of a Scholar…

May Allah (swt) Curse Aale Sau’d.
