There is much confusion about the hadith regarding 73 sects, and how restrictive the conditions of entering Paradise is. Many taking a hard head literal approach to it, boasting salvation for their “sect” and condemning all others to the hellfire – while others dismiss it as a total fabrication because (to them) it is not inline with Allah’s (swt) Justice.

Three things will complain before Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy: A Mosque where no one of the neighborhood performs prayer, a scholar among the ignorant people and the copy of the Holy Quran on which dust has accumulated and no one reads it.

Imam al-Sadiq (as), al-Kafi, Volume 2

No one is able to describe Allah. Just as no one is able to describe Allah, no one is able to describe us (the Infallibles). Just as no one is able to describe us, no one is able to describe the believer. When a believer meets the believer and shakes hands, Allah continues looking at them and sins fall from their faces like leaves fall from trees until they depart each other. How then is one able to describe one who is as such?

Imam al-Baqir (as), al-Kafi, Volume 2

How numerous are the human beings and how little are, in numbers, the patient ones. The trees are many but the good ones of it are few. So do not be deceived by the beauty of the tree until you have tasted its fruit.

Allah's (swt) advice to Isa ibn Maryam (as), al-Kafi, Volume 8, Hadith #103

Our sayings are difficult [to understand], and perceived difficult. They are harsh, and made stern. So pitch to the people a small fragment [of our sayings] – whoever of them comprehends it, then give him more [of our sayings], and whoever rejects it, then refrain from it (giving them more of our sayings). None can bear [our sayings] except three:
(1) An Angel of close proximity
(2) A Mursil Prophet
(3) A Believer whose heart has been tested by Allah for Imaan (belief).

Attributed to Imam Ali (as), Basa'ir al-Darajaat, Chapter 11, Hadith #5

There is no nobility (in family decent) for a Quraishi, nor for an Arab, except by means of humbleness, and there is no honour except by means of piety (taqwa). A deed is not (considered) unless there is an intention behind it. There is no worshipping except by means of understanding (al-Tafaqquh). Beware that the most despised person by God (swt) is the one who considers himself to be the follower of a leader (Imam) but does not act according to the deeds of his leader. (Hasan hadith)

Imam al-Sajjad (as), al-Kafi Volume 8, Hadith 312; al-Khisal, Hadith 62

Allah created us and He made our creation the best. He formed us and made our form the best. He made us the treasuries of His heaven and His Earth. For us the tree spoke, and with our worship Allah is worshiped – if it were not for us, Allah would not be worshiped. (Sahih Hadith)

Imam Al-Sadiq (as), Al-Kafi, Volume 1, hadith 505

Of the signs of a liar is he tells you the news of Heaven, Earth, East and West, but when you ask him about what Allah has made unlawful and what He has made lawful, you will find nothing with him (devoid of the knowledge of Shari’a). (Sahih Hadith)

Imam al-Sadiq (as), Usool al-Kafi, Volume 2, Chapter of Lies, Hadith #8

‘O Humraan! Look to the one who is below you in the capability, and do not look at the one who is above you in the capability, for that would be contentment for you with what Allah (swt) has Distributed for you, and you would be more likely to receive more from your Lord.
And know that a small amount of deeds with certainty are more preferable in the Presence of Allah (swt) than the numerous deeds performed without certainty. And know that there is no devoutness which is more beneficial than avoiding the Prohibitions of Allah (swt) and the restraint from hurting the Believers and back-biting against them, and no life more enjoyable than good manners, and no wealth more beneficial than contentment with less, and no ignorance more harmful than vanity. (Hasan or Sahih hadith)

Imam al-Sadiq (as), al-Kafi, Volume 8, Hadith #338

Adam (as) said: “Oh Lord, increase me in Beauty!”
When he woke up, he had a black beard, the colour of charcoal. He put his hand upon it and said: “Oh Lord, what is this?”
Allah (swt) replied: “With this beard, I have beautified you, and your sons until the Day of Judgement.”

A conversation between Adam (as) and Allah (swt), `ilal al-Shara'i`

Oh my Lord and my Master, [while] the eyes [of people] have closed, and the stars have set, and the birds have settled motionless in their nests, and the fish (whales) in the oceans; You are the Just that does not oppress, and the Upright that does not sway; the Kings have locked their doors, and the guards have turned towards them, while your door remains open to the one who supplicates to you. Oh my Master! [While] every lover has secluded themselves with their beloved – and You are the Beloved one to me…

Imam al-Sajjad (as), Bihaar al-Anwar, Volume 84, Page 308-309

Musa (as) asked his Lord: “Oh Lord, are you close to me, so that I whisper to you in supplication (‘unaajeek); or are you far, so that I call out to you in supplication (‘unaadeek).
Allah (azwj) revealed to him: “Oh Musa, I am seated next to the one who remembers Me. (Sahih Hadith)

The Qur’an is the trust of Allah (given) to His creations, therefore it is desirable for every Muslim to look at this trust and to recite (a minimum of) 50 ayat of the Qur’an everyday. (Sahih Hadith)

Regret for forgiving is better and easier than regret for being subjected to punishment. (Hasan Hadith)

Imam al-Baqir (as), al-Kafi, Volume 2, Chapter on Forgiveness, Hadith #6

Should I tell you what is the best traits of all creations of this world and of the next world?
(1) It is forgiveness for those who do injustice to you,
(2) to establish good relations with those who ignore you,
(3) to do favors to those who harm you
(4) and to give to those who deprive you. (Sahih Hadith)

The Messenger of Allah (sawa), al-Kafi, Volume 2, Chapter on Forgiveness, Hadith #1

Whoever remains patient upon a misfortune, Allah raises them – honour upon honour, and He will enter them into gardens along with Muhammad and his Household (sawa).

Imam al-Baqir (as), Thawaab al-A`maal

Jesus the son of Mary (‘a) said, ‘The dinar is the illness of religion, and the scholar (al-‘alim) is the physician of religion. So if you see that the physician brings illness upon himself, distrust him, and know that he is not to advise others.

Whoever renews his wudhu without needing to pray, Allah will renew his repentance without him needing to seek it through forgiveness.

Whoever commits a sin while he is laughing, he will enter the hell fire while he is crying

Do you want me to describe to you the true Scholar? A true Scholar is one who does not cause people to despair from the mercy of Allah or to become indifferent toward and unconcerned about the punishment of Allah, who does not allow them to consider disobedience to Allah as permissible and who does not abandon the Holy Quran despite the existence of other matters’ attractions. You must know that there is no goodness in knowledge without good understanding. You must know that there is nothing good in a recitation without thinking about it. You must know that there is nothing good in worship without thoughtfulness.’
In another Hadith he has said, “You must know that there is nothing good in knowledge without good understanding. You must know that there is nothing good in a recitation without thinking about it. You must know that there is nothing good in worship without having a good understanding of religion. You must know that there is nothing good in performing the acts of Hajj and so forth without piety. (Sahih Hadith)

Imam Ali (as), al-Kafi, Volume 1, Page 36, Hadith #3

The perfect scholar of Islam is he who does not let people lose hope from the mercy of Allah, does not make them despondent of Allah’s kindness and does not make them feel safe from Allah’s punishment.

Imam Ali (as), Nahjul Balagha

Regarding the ayah:
وَعَلَامَاتٍ ۚ وَبِالنَّجْمِ هُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ
And landmarks; and by the star they are being guided. (16:16)
The Imam said: ‘We (as) are the landmarks, and the star is The Messenger of Allah (sawa), and he (sawa) had said: ‘Surely Allah Made the stars as security for the people of the sky, and Made the People of my Household (as) as a salvation for the people of the earth’.

Imam al-Sadiq (as), Tafseer Majma` al-Bayan, al-Tabrasi

I stand witness that there is no god but Allah, He is One and there is no partner with Him. He is the First, such that nothing was before Him. He is the Last, such that there is not limit for Him. Imagination cannot catch any of His qualities. Hearts cannot entertain belief about His nature. Analysis and division cannot be applied to Him. Eyes and hearts cannot compare Him.

Imam Ali (as), Nahjul Balagha, Extract from Sermon 84

If your eye disputes for some of what l have Prohibited to you, so l have Aided you with two layers (eyelids), so close them and do not look. And if your tongue disputes for some of what l have Prohibited to you, so I have Aided you with two layers (lips), so close them and do not speak, And if your genitals dispute for some of what l have Prohibited to you, so I have Aided you with two layers (legs), so close them and do not come to the Prohibited.

Allah (swt) to the Children of Adam (as), al-Kafi, Volume 8, page 219, Hadith #270

The one who avoids treating the wounded from his wounds is inevitably an associate of the one who wounded him, and that the injurer intended to destroy the wounded one, and the one who avoided treating him did not desire his well being. So if he did not desire his well being so he has desired his destruction unwillingly. Similar to that, do not narrate the wisdom to the one who does not deserve it for it would be ignorant of you, and do not prevent it from its deserving ones, for you would be a sinner, but one of you should become of the status of a doctor who treats when he sees it is appropriate for his medicine, otherwise he withholds’.

The Messiah (Jesus) (as), al-Kafi, Volume 8, page 345, Hadith #545

Moses – the son of Imran (s) asked his Lord – the Honorable the Exalted: O Lord! My brother Aaron has died. Please forgive him.” The Sublime God revealed to him, “O Moses! If you ask Me to forgive any of those of the old or those of later times I would forgive them except for the murderers of Al-Hussein ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (s). I will take revenge on his murderers. (Sahih Hadith)

The Prophet (sawa), `Uyoun akhbaar al-Ridha, Sh. al-Sadooq, Volume 2, Chapter 31, Hadith #179

The one who enters this religion through men will exit it through men just as they caused him to enter it; And whoever enters this religion through the book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Prophet (sawa), mountains will crumble before he (i.e his faith) does.
